Clarkson University Turns to Precise for Biometric Access Control

Precise Biometrics will be providing New York’s Clarkson University with face-based access control capabilities. The company will specifically be outfitting Clarkson with its YOUNiQ facial recognition solution, which will be installed at the school’s North Country Incubator facility.

The North Country Incubator is part of Clarkson’s Shipley Center for Innovation. The facility is the home of 12 tenant companies that collectively employ 150 employees. All of those employees will be able to register with YOUNiQ and gain access to the building with a facial recognition scan rather than a keycard.

This is Precise’s first YOUNiQ deployment in the United States. The company is based in Sweden, and most of its access control customers are located in the country.

“We have been working closely with Clarkson University since the acquisition of NexID in 2017 and have conducted several pilot projects together,” said Precise Senior Sales Director Mark Cornett. “We are therefore particularly happy that North Country Incubator now has decided to upgrade its access management system with YOUNiQ. The tenants will now be able to access its premises in a more secure and convenient way than ever before.”

Precise has indicated that it expects to see major growth from its access control business in 2021. The company’s current roster of YOUNiQ customers includes Temporary Space Nordics and Exeger, the latter of which was the first company to adopt the solution. YOUNiQ has also been integrated into access control solutions from Telcred and RCO Security.
