California’s Ontario Airport Gets New CLEAR Plus Lanes

CLEAR continues to expand its CLEAR Plus airport screening program across the United States. The company is now offering its iris-based subscription service to travelers at Ontario International Airport (ONT) in California.

Ontario is the sixth California airport to receive the service, following a CLEAR deployment in Oakland in April of 2021. The tally is now at 41 airports nationally, with Florida’s Palm Beach International Airport standing as one of the other recent additions to the list.

CLEAR Plus lanes will be open at both terminals of Ontario International. Those who are interested in taking advantage of the feature will need to sign up for a membership and register their iris biometrics. They will then be able to go to one of the expedited CLEAR lanes when they pass through airport security, where they will need to complete an iris recognition scan to confirm their identity. A CLEAR agent will then take them to the front of the line for the usual TSA physical security screening.

“Expanding our footprint to more airports in the Golden State has been an important priority as we continue working toward our vision for a world of frictionless experiences and journeys,” said CLEAR CEO Caryn Seidman-Becker. “Our launch at ONT reflects our commitment to our members, airports and communities across California, and we look forward to continued growth in the months and years ahead.”

According to CLEAR, the Ontario lanes will create 23 jobs and generate $2.2 million for the local economy. A CLEAR Plus subscription goes for $15 a month, though discounts are being offered to government officials, active military members, veterans, and those who are members with Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, and American Express. Denver, Boston, and Nashville are some of the other US airports that have already installed CLEAR Plus lanes for their customers.
