Onfido has officially met the requirements for (and received) Service Organization 2 (SOC-2) Type 2 certification. The news comes after an independent audit that was carried out by BDO Limited.
The SOC-2 standard was developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) to evaluate the data security and privacy practices of other organizations. The certification indicates that Onfido is able to protect the personal information of its customers in accordance with the latest industry standards.
“As a customer-first company, whose mission is to build trust in an online world, data security and privacy protection are key priorities we take seriously,” said Onfido Co-Founder and CEO Husayn Kassai. “This is an important step for Onfido’s ongoing commitment to providing a best-in-class identity verification solution as we partner with enterprise customers globally.”
The SOC-2 certification should allow Onfido to hit the ground running after securing a series of new partnerships and technology integrations at the tail end of 2019. The company’s selfie-based identity verification tech has now been deployed by ForgeRock and Ubisecure, while Onfido itself has formed a strategic alliance with the Estonian Know Your Corporate Customer specialist Entify.
Onfido previously received ISO 27001 certification.
