Moqi Unveils New FingerID Fingerprint Recognition Platform

Moqi will be showcasing its new FingerID solution at the upcoming Milipol Conference in Paris. FingerID is an automatic fingerprint identification system (AFIS) that can find a match for a new fingerprint in less than one second, even in a database with more than 2 billion prints.

Built to be a Software-as-a-Service solution, FingerID is compatible with a wide range of fingerprint capture devices, up to and including mobile phones. The system is geared towards law enforcement, immigration, and other public agencies, and has already been leveraged for a national fingerprint repository in collaboration with a large national police department.

According to Moqi, FingerID has helped the police identify thousands of latent fingerprints and solve hundreds of cold murder cases that could not be cracked with the fingerprint technology that existed at the time.

There have been multiple examples in mainstream media of contemporary biometrics being used to solve cold cases. Earlier this year, Florida police were able to solve a 20-year-old murder case thanks to a fingerprint match that was carried out as part of a biometric background check. In the meantime, companies like IDEMIA and Innovatrics have steadily worked to make latent fingerprints more useful to forensic investigators. UK researchers have also developed a solution that makes it easier to pull fingerprints from metal surfaces.

Moqi is arguing that FingerID can form the basis of a national ID program, and provides organizations with a faster, safer, and more accurate identity verification and authentication solution. The Milipol Conference runs from November 19-22. FingerID will be on display in at booth 5H195 in the Forensics Section.
