Mantra Encourages Indian Schools to Adopt Biometric Attendance Tracking

India’s Mantra Softech showcased some of the educational applications of its biometric technology during a recent conference in Uttar Pradesh. The two-day National Education CSR Conclave was organized by NITI Aayog in collaboration with the Government of Uttar Pradesh, and took place at the National Law Institute in Lucknow.

During the event, Mantra emphasized the utility of its time and attendance tracking solutions, and the Aadhaar Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS) in particular. The company noted that AEBAS has already been deployed at government schools in Andhra Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh. It has also been picked up by the Medical Council of India.

The AEBAS system uses fingerprint recognition to verify people’s identities based on their unique Aadhaar number.

“Our AEBAS Solutions will uplift the education sector by bringing more transparency,” said Mantra Softech Director Hiren Bhandari. “We are committed to bringing innovative products and solutions for different government education schemes.”

The state of Uttar Pradesh is currently using Mantra’s biometric technology to facilitate the distribution of food through the Targeted Public Distribution System, while the state of Bihar is using the company’s iris scanners to implement the PM-Kishan Yojana program for small farmers. Mantra released a new FAP10 certified fingerprint sensor back in December.
