IDEMIA has made another important change to its corporate infrastructure, including the appointment of a new high-level executive: Dan Kent is the company’s new Chief Technology Officer, VP, and member of the Executive Committee for IDEMIA’s North American Identity & Security business.
Additionally, Kent will be heading a new division that is a consolidation of IDEMIA’s Product Management, Information Technology, Information Security/Cybersecurity, and Engineering arms. In a statement announcing the changes, IDEMIA explained that Kent’s role here “will include leading the strategic thinking about how changes in technology will impact our markets and customers as well as ensuring that our product roadmaps are aligned and implemented to meet our customers’ present and future needs.”
Dan Kent brings to the role 25 years of experience in the information technology sector, with his most recent position having been as Cisco’s US Public Sector CTO and Engineering Director – a position he held since October of 2009. For the five years prior to that, Kent was Cisco’s Director of Systems Engineering for Federal Markets, and he has previously held positions with Nortel, and Network Solutions.
“I am excited to start this role and lead this new information technology group at IDEMIA,” commented Kent in a statement announcing his appointment. “IDEMIA’s leadership role in developing technology for identity and security serve as a great foundation for a rapidly changing digital landscape.”
Kent’s appointment comes soon after IDEMIA’s announcement in June that Sean Thompson would be its new Head of Business Development for North America. The moves reflect in part an ongoing restructuring since IDEMIA’s formation after the merger of Oberthur Technologies and Safran Identity & Security, and also reflect the France-based company’s intensifying focus on North America.
