Hampton Introduces Biometric Smart Locks at CES 2020

Security hardware company Hampton Products unveiled its new lineup of smart locks at CES in Las Vegas this week, including the BenjiLock by Hampton, which is biometrics-enabled.

Users can choose between the BenjiLock Via — which comes in both internet connected and non-connected formats — or the BenjiLock Luca, a non-connected version which is more suitable to areas with limited WiFi access like cabins or vacation homes.

Both variants offer fingerprint access via a scanner, but are also equipped with keypads and can be unlocked with a traditional key if needed. For the connected models, users can also unlock them using their smartphone and Hampton’s Array app, as well smart assistants like Google Assistant, Alexa and Siri.

The Hampton Array app features multi-point security encryption between the app, the cloud and the deadbolt itself, and allows users to share access codes, set times when the locks are accessible, and receive notifications on their mobile device when a door is locked or unlocked.

Hampton also showed off the Array Revive deadbolt lock, which is mounted on the interior portion of the door, leaving the exterior unaltered but still providing smart lock functionality.

All of the BenjiLock models feature Grade 2 deadbolts that are pick, bump, and drill-resistant, and are battery powered to back up the storage of up to 10 fingerprints and 24 user codes to allow owners to provide access to family and friends should they choose to do so.

The BenjiLock Livia and Luca will be available at launch in prices ranging from $139 to $229 in a range of colors including bronze, nickel, or matte black.

Hampton Products is the parent company of security brand names like Brinks, Mountain Security and ACE Hardware.

CES 2020 is currently taking place in Las Vegas, and runs until Friday, January 10.
