“… Santander Argentina is considered Argentina’s top private bank in terms of savings and volume of credit. The bank’s branch network includes 460 offices, and serves more than 3.7 million customers.”
FacePhi has won another important contract in Argentina, this time with Santander Argentina.
The bank will take advantage of FacePhi’s SelphID solution, which is designed to enable remote authentication of end users by comparing a selfie photo against images a given user’s official identity documents. The facial recognition system will be deployed across Santander Argentina’s web and mobile applications, adding security to the onboarding and account access process.
In a statement announcing the development, FacePhi explained that Santander Argentina is considered Argentina’s top private bank in terms of savings and volume of credit. The bank’s branch network includes 460 offices, and serves more than 3.7 million customers.
As was the case with FacePhi’s partnership with Banco del Sol last summer, the agreement was formed in collaboration with Compusistem, FacePhi’s technology partner in the country. The Spain-based biometrics specialist has now established numerous contracts in Argentina, making it a hub of FacePhi’s broader success in the LATAM region.
Commenting on the deal, FacePhi CEO Javier Mira emphasized Argentina’s importance as a “strategic market” in the company’s overall expansion strategy.
The announcement comes soon after the news that Panama’s Credicorp Bank had become FacePhi’s first new customer of 2020, and in the wake of FacePhi’s acquisition of document recognition specialist Ecertic, announced last month.
