BIO-key Adds African Tech Institute to CAP Distribution Program

The Technology Transfer Institute of Africa (TTI) is the latest addition to BIO-key International’s Channel Alliance Partner (CAP) program. First launched in September, the CAP program is geared towards resellers and security providers in an effort to build a distribution network for BIO-key’s entire portfolio of biometric security solutions.

The partnership with TTI is specifically expected to boost BIO-key’s sales prospects in Africa. TTI recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to provide biometric security technology for the Nigerian state of Imo, and is well positioned to deliver on other government contracts across the rest of the continent.

The World Bank has already approved $433 million in funding for the development of a national biometric ID registry in Nigeria in the wake of the TTI MOU.

“Due to the very high demand for biometric and identity solutions in Nigeria and throughout Africa, we sought to partner with a company with a wide range of biometric solutions that could be implemented immediately,” said TTI CEO Emmanuel Alia.

“We are pleased to add TTI to our CAP program, given their expertise in the African market where demand for biometric security is significant,” said BIO-key Chief Revenue Officer Fred Corsentino. “This partnership extends BIO-key’s sales reach within this extensive market as the need for convenient, reliable and scalable civil ID and multi-factor security grows.”

BIO-key is the developer of the ID Director for Windows and ID Director for SAML platforms, and also offers a full line of USB fingerprint scanners that allow organizations to protect their networks with strong multi-factor authentication. The EcoID Reader, in particular, is currently being used to safeguard computers on Capitol Hill thanks to a new contract with the legislative branch of the American government.

BIO-key has already secured a new partner through the CAP program thanks to its reseller agreement with Applied Technologies.
