Scientific Games picked up a bundle of industry accolades at the ICE London gaming conference earlier this month. Most notably, the company’s SG Vision solution received the prize for Supplier Innovation of the Year at the 2020 Gaming Intelligence Awards.
The streak continued at the International Gaming Awards and the Global Gaming Awards. At the former, a panel of industry insiders named Scientific Games as the U.S. Gaming Company of the Year, while the latter recognized Scientific Games as its Retailer Supplier of the Year. The Global Gaming Awards were presented by Gambling Insider.
Scientific Games is a provider of casino, iGaming, and sports betting technology. The SG Vision platform utilizes biometrics and object recognition to verify the ages and identities of its players, and to deliver a more personal gaming experience.
“We’re honored to have our gaming platforms recognized by three major global award shows at ICE London 2020,” said Scientific Games President and CEO Barry Cottle.
Gaming Intelligence acknowledged two individual Scientific Games executives in addition to recognizing the SG Vision solution. Chief Product Officer Tim Bucher and SG Gaming UK CEO Phil Horne were selected as members of the Gaming Intelligence Hot 50 class of 2020.
Of course, Scientific Games is not the only gaming company utilizing biometric technology to improve casino operations. For example, Konami’s SYNKROS casino management system acts as both a security platform and a loyalty service, utilizing facial recognition to verify the identities of players and track their gaming progress. SYNKROS recently picked up a Gold Medal in the Casino Management Systems category at the Data Quadrant Awards.
Jumio has also leveraged facial recognition to provide secure onboarding and identification services for online gaming platforms. The company added Novibet to its client roster in June of 2019.
