Biometric CCTV Camera Scans for Masks and Fever

Platinum CCTV, the maker of a wide variety of security cameras, has announced its latest thermal body temperature sensing camera, the PT-AS7213X-T1 Thermal IP camera.

The PT-AS7213X-T1 is intended for use by small and medium-sized businesses to scan their employees and customers for fever, in light of the COVID-19 viral outbreak that has swept across the globe in recent months.

Using thermal imaging, the device can sense an individual’s body temperature with an accuracy of 0.5 degrees Celsius in approximately 0.2 seconds, allowing it to quickly detect the early symptoms of viruses before they may have the chance to spread further.

The camera is also capable of detecting whether or not an individual is wearing a mask, with its access control platform able to permit or deny entry on a case-by-case basis through a combination of fever detection, mask detection, facial recognition and/or IC cards.

“We are really excited with the launch of this new thermal fever camera,” said Michael Dunteman, CEO of Platinum CCTV. “It fits into the budget of small businesses, which has been one of our goals as the country began to reopen.”

The PT-AS7213X-T1 supports common electronic door locks, with users able to configure it to notify people entering a building or private space to put on a mask if a policy requires them to do so. The device also has a built-in card reader that supports IC-style access control cards, and is also equipped with an optional facial recognition database to control access using biometric authentication.

“Preventing entry of customers and employees with a fever or without a mask helps keep everyone safer,” said Dunteman. This camera facilitates that process automatically for small businesses everywhere, making it easier for people to return to work,” he added.

The camera can be used in standalone form for access control, or can be incorporated with Platinum CCTV’s proprietary Advanced Video Management (AVM) solution, which allows for recording of the video feed in HD resolution. It is capable of accurately measuring body temperature from up to six feet away, and is calibrated to support individuals within a height range of 2’10” to 7’10”, per ADA compliance.
