“I am thrilled to join such an experienced leadership team and build on a very strong foundation and culture, to take BIO-key to new heights.” – Kimberly Johnson, Vice President of Product Marketing, BIO-key
BIO-key has named Kimberly Johnson as its Vice President of Product Marketing – a newly created position.
In announcing the appointment, BIO-key emphasized Johnson’s experience in the identity and security tech industry, especially her success in overseeing various product launches. Johnson has held senior marketing positions with BitSight, CareCloud, Imprivata and GlobalSign in recent years.
Perhaps most notably, however, Johnson was the Marketing Manager for PistolStar from 2009 to 2013. Known for its PortalGuard Identity and Access Management solution, PistolStar was acquired by BIO-key earlier this summer. The acquisition has since led to several new contracts for BIO-key, indicating that it will be an important new line of business going forward.
Accordingly, BIO-key indicated in its statement that Johnson’s “marketing management background and strong track record of success will play an important role in growing the newly combined product platforms of BIO-key and its recently acquired PortalGuard solution.”
For her part, Johnson expressed excitement about her return to PortalGuard and her entry into the BIO-key family. “Having started my career working with PortalGuard, and now returning as part of BIO-key, I am fully immersed in our value proposition and excited to work with BIO-key’s impressive team of tenured, dedicated experts – core attributes that have caused so many companies to trust BIO-key to secure their business,” she said. “I am thrilled to join such an experienced leadership team and build on a very strong foundation and culture, to take BIO-key to new heights.”
Commenting on the appointment, BIO-key CEO Michael DePasquale hinted that the integration of BIO-key’s own fingerprint biometrics technology into the PortalGuard offering will be of growing importance going forward. “Kimberly will play a significant role leading the growth efforts of an exciting lineup of IAM products featuring biometrics,” he said, adding that Johnson’s previous experience with PortalGuard “gives her an important head start.”
