BIO-key Provides PortalGuard for Southeastern Illinois College

BIO-key has picked up another PortalGuard customer in the educational sphere. This time around, the solution is being deployed at Southeastern Illinois College in Harrisburg, which will be using the cloud-based Identity-as-a-Service (IDaaS) platform to streamline access control procedures for students and faculty trying to access the school’s academic applications.  

According to BIO-key, the school selected PortalGuard based on the company’s positive track record with academic institutions. The company’s current client roster includes a slew of other schools, with Marion College, San Juan College, and Eastern State Florida College standing as some of the most recent additions to the list.

Southeastern Illinois College will be using PortalGuard to protect its Jenzabar student information system and its Canvas learning management system, amongst other applications. The school cited ease of integration as another key factor when making its decision.

“The formal launch of the IDaaS version of our PortalGuard platform has accelerated our ability to deliver best-in-class security capabilities on a very efficient, cost-effective basis,” said PortalGuard President Mark Cochran. “Higher Education institutions are seeking security experts like BIO-key to execute their strategic initiatives and meet end-user demands for access personalization and convenience, while addressing ever-evolving cybersecurity threats.”

NGEN recently announced that it would be helping to distribute PortalGuard as a member of BIO-key’s Channel Alliance Partner Program. The two companies have already picked up another (unnamed) academic customer through the joint arrangement.
