BIO-key Deploys PortalGuard for Rio Hondo College

Another California college is turning to BIO-key to streamline its identity and access management procedures. In that regard, Rio Hondo College will be installing the PortalGuard Identity-as-a-Service (IDaaS) to enable Single Sign-On capabilities for students and faculty accessing its various enterprise and academic applications.

Rio Hondo College is located in Whittier, CA. The school’s administrators believe that PortalGuard will improve the learning experience for its 19,000 students, since they will only need to remember a single user name and password to log into apps like Microsoft Office 365 and Ellucian Banner. That remains true whether they are logging in at a desktop computer or with a mobile device.

The cloud-based PortalGuard will also reduce the administrative burden on Rio Hondo’s IT department. BIO-key is able to help with configuration, hosting, and maintenance, which means that the school’s staff can devote their attention to internal projects.

Rio Hondo will be taking advantage of PortalGuard’s Multi-factor Authentication feature to provide an additional layer of security. The platform offers support for 16 authentication options, including the new MobileAuth palm recognition app for iOS and Android devices.
