BIO-key will be showcasing its PortalGuard Identity-as-a-Service (IDaaS) solution at this month’s National Association of Counties (NACo) Conference in Maryland. As an organization, NACo speaks to the interests of county-level governments in the United States, covering topics that range from housing to agriculture to cybersecurity.
BIO-key, of course, has particular expertise in the latter category. The company’s PortalGuard solution provides organizations with streamlined single sign-on capabilities, and offers support for multiple forms of authentication, including biometric and passwordless authentication.
As a sponsor and an exhibitor, BIO-key plans to emphasize the utility and the affordability of the PortalGuard product. NACo has encouraged its members to prioritize multi-factor authentication (MFA), and while BIO-key praised that stance, it noted that many solutions can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, which may be prohibitively expensive.
PortalGuard, on the other hand, is available as a cloud service, which means that it can be deployed without any significant hardware investments. That makes it much more cost-effective than many of the other solutions currently on the market, and should make it more appealing to counties that need to deal with increasing cyberattacks and remote work traffic.
“For over ten years, BIO-key has been focused on helping counties secure access for their employees, citizens, and contractors,” said BIO-key CRO Fred Corsentino. “Now, more than ever, we’re excited to attend and sponsor this event at such a critical time when counties require solutions to protect against breaches, eliminate passwords, lower costs, and improve productivity for their IT teams.”
The Department of Defense, the Department of Justice, and the municipality of Durham, North Carolina are some of BIO-key’s recent PortalGuard customers in the public sector. The NACo Annual Conference runs from July 8-12 at the National Harbor in Maryland’s Prince George’s County. BIO-key will be giving demonstrations at booth 302, while Product VP Kimberly Johnson will be a featured panelist during the event’s CIO Forum and Technology Summit.
