A long-established succession plan has taken effect at BioCatch, with the company announcing that Howard Edelstein is stepping back from the role of CEO, while former Chief Operating Officer Gadi Mazor is stepping up to take the helm. Edelstein will remain in his role as Chairman of the Board.
Mazor joined the behavioral biometrics company in the same year in which Edelstein was named CEO. Before that, he spent fourteen years running Nobex Technologies, as founder, President, and CEO. He had also served as General Partner and CTO of OurCrowd from 2012 to 2016, and founded and led Onset Technology before that, from 1997 to 2006.
In a statement announcing the transition, the company explained that “Mazor has worked hand-in-hand with Edelstein to accelerate the company’s global growth, consolidate its position as the leader in behavioral biometrics, and scale BioCatch’s technology, delivery, and operations teams,” and highlighted Mazor’s previous experience in founding and leading tech companies.
“Howard has been an incredible mentor to me and our team, and he will continue to be an invaluable asset to BioCatch and our investors and customers as Chairman as we continue to experience rapid adoption,” Mazor said.
For his part, Edelstein called Mazor “a tremendous innovator and driver of change,” adding that he “brings an exceptional set of skills and entrepreneurial vision to BioCatch for our next stages of growth and innovation.”
Mazor is taking the reins as enthusiasm for the behavioral biometrics technology continues to increase amid the broader wave of digitization. For its part, BioCatch was named an Overall Industry Leader in a report from KuppingerCole earlier this year, and joined the annual Inc. 5000 rankings of fast-growing private companies this past summer.
Much of the credit for BioCatch’s strong reputation can be attributed to Edelstein, who oversaw the growth of the company’s banking customer portfolio from a handful of clients to a roster of more than 50 financial institutions today.
