Axiad Cloud Expands Utility of Windows Hello for Businesses

The Axiad Cloud credential management platform now offers support for the Windows Hello for Business authentication solution. The news will dramatically expand the utility of the Hello for Business platform, and allow individual employees to use their Hello credentials to log into any workplace device or application.

That includes devices and applications that do not run on the Windows platform. In that regard, Microsoft originally developed Windows Hello for Business to enable passwordless authentication for people using Windows devices and Microsoft software services like Office 365. However, Axiad pointed out that many people do not use those services, and are instead using iOS and Linux devices or accessing corporate VPNs and third-party applications.

The Axiad Cloud integration helps get rid of those limitations. To that end, the solution allows the IT department to link an employee’s Hello for Business credential to a unique digital certificate. That certificate can then be sent as proof of identity when that employee tries to access non-Microsoft resources. The process is carried out in the cloud, which means that it can be used for both remote and on-premises authentication.

Axiad Cloud is able to recognize approved networks and devices, which provides businesses with an even higher level of Zero Trust security. The platform makes things easier for employees because they no longer need to keep track of different credentials for different applications, and for the IT team because they can manage all of an organization’s credentials from a centralized location. Businesses can also use Axiad Cloud for encryption, and to generate secure digital signatures for emails and when signing documents.

Axiad completed a $20 million funding found with Invictus Growth Partners back in January. The Chrome web browser, meanwhile, offers support for Windows Hello as of May of last year.
