Aware has announced its financial results for the third quarter of 2025 on October 29, reporting a 33 percent year-over-year increase in total revenue to $5.1 million. The strong quarterly performance was also reflected in improved profitability, with the company narrowing its net loss to $1.1 million, compared to a net loss of $1.2 million in the prior-year period. Adjusted EBITDA loss also saw significant improvement, narrowing to $0.8 million from $1.1 million in Q3 2024.
The revenue growth was driven by a combination of new customer activity and expansion within Aware’s existing base. The company’s financial report details a successful two-pronged strategy: a $1.0 million perpetual license expansion with an existing customer provided a significant non-recurring revenue boost, which was complemented by $0.6 million in new term license contracts.
An analysis of the results suggests a company in a well-managed transition. The significant, one-time perpetual license deal provided a crucial cash infusion that helped fund the company’s strategic pivot toward a subscription-based SaaS model with more predictable revenue. This is evidenced by the growth in total recurring revenue, which climbed to $3.55 million for the quarter, up from $2.82 million in Q3 2024. This ability to use its legacy business to fund its future growth allowed Aware to invest in R&D and sales without deepening its net loss.
The company’s recent FIDO Alliance Certification for Face Verification, achieved in October 2025, was highlighted alongside the financial results. This technical milestone is being leveraged as a key commercial catalyst. The certification validates Aware’s technology, including its new Intelligent Liveness solution, against rigorous global standards. This validation is critical for competing for and winning the high-value government and enterprise contracts that are essential for building its long-term recurring revenue base.
The results come as Aware continues its evolution under CEO Ajay Amlani, who joined the company in early 2025 following an extensive search. Amlani, who previously served as Head of the Americas for iProov, has emphasized a stronger focus on government contracts alongside the company’s pivot to cloud-based solutions.
