IT consultancy Wipro Limited will help NextGate to build a new Enterprise Master Patient Index (eMPI) for Scotland’s national health service.
NextGate announced the project last month, after NHS Scotland had selected the company to upgrade its patient identity management system. To that end, the company indicated that it would use its MatchMetrix eMPI platform.
Now, Wipro has signed on to essentially act as the system integrator, indicating in a statement that its solution, “based on NextGate’s MatchMetrix platform, will integrate with other existing NHS Scotland legacy systems.” Commenting on the tripartite effort, NHS Scotland Director of IT Andy Robertson said that the modernization of Scotland’s patient identification system will help NHS Scotland “deliver the highest standards of healthcare to the people of Scotland in a cost effective and efficient manner.”
India-based Wipro has indicated that its contract spans a 12-year period.
