Boon Edam and AnyVision have joined forces to create next-generation access control solutions. AnyVision is the developer of the Abraxas facial recognition platform, while Boon Edam is best known as a maker of turnstiles, revolving doors, security gates, and other physical access control products.
As partners, the two companies are planning to combine their respective strengths. Boon Edam will be integrating the Abraxas platform into its various products to improve the customer experience while still maintaining strong security.
“We understand that first impressions are everything, and customer and employee experience begins as soon as someone opens the door,” said Boon Edam Business Development Manager Jonas Oijevaar. “Together with AnyVision, we are ensuring that experience is safe and trusted, but also effortless.”
The two companies indicated that they have already moved forward with several different pilot projects. However, they will not announce any commercial products until a later date.
Microsoft recently divested from AnyVision after conducting an audit about the company’s potential involvement in a mass surveillance scheme of Palestinians in the West Bank. The independent audit did not find evidence to support the allegations, but Microsoft still decided to end its relationship with AnyVision and has since changed its corporate policies to prevent minority investment in any company that sells facial recognition technology.
Boon Edam, meanwhile, has displayed a growing interest in facial recognition in the past few months. Back in May, the company unveiled a biometric mantrap portal circle lock with facial recognition technology from Alcatraz.
