Alcatraz Releases Updated Version of Flagship Facial Recognition Platform

Alcatraz AI has launched the next iteration of its flagship facial recognition platform. The enhanced Alcatraz Platform V2 improves on its predecessor with streamlined integration features and new troubleshooting tools to make the technology more accessible and more user-friendly for potential customers.

In that regard, V2 is compatible with a number of leading third party access control systems, including the Tyco Software House C•CURE 9000 security platform, and Johnson Controls’ event management solution. Alcatraz stressed that clients do not necessarily need to integrate Alcatraz into their broader access control setup. However, the improved API will make things simpler for those that do want a more consolidated enterprise security solution.

Alcatraz Platform V2 also has lower minimum system requirements, which will allow more organizations to use the technology with their existing hardware. In the meantime, the simplified troubleshooting tools will make it easier for Alcatraz clients to update their facial recognition systems. Alcatraz AI is best known as the developer of The Rock, a touchless access control solution that uses facial recognition to verify the identities of registered individuals at the door of a facility.

“The latest major release of our platform includes an evolution of our backend software,” said Alcatraz Product VP Blaine Frederick. “It will provide integrators more flexibility when deciding how to deploy the solution on either Windows or Linux operating systems. Additionally, the new platform enables the Alcatraz API, which provides a mechanism for integrators and end-users to add enhanced custom functionality.”

Alcatraz gained ONVIF certification back in September, a feat that cleared the way for more integrations with Video Management Systems. The company is currently working to expand its customer base after bringing on a new VP of Sales at the tail end of 2022, and after partnering with Switched On Space to extend its reach in the European market.
