Zwipe has announced a partnership with Schneider Electric’s Security Solutions Group. The France-based multinational Schneider Electric plans to introduce the Zwipe Access fingerprint-scanning smart card to its clientele. This card will be integrated with Schneider Electric’s Continuum and Security Expert platforms, serving a diverse global client base from sectors including airports, transportation, healthcare, data centers, and more.
The Zwipe Access card contains an encrypted fingerprint template of the cardholder within its chip. This feature offers Schneider Electric’s customers an option for biometric verification within their current security frameworks. The card’s design ensures compatibility with a variety of access control manufacturers, including but not limited to Schneider Electric’s platforms.
In its functionality, cardholders present their Zwipe Access card to a reader for identity verification. Operating without an internal battery, the card relies on power from the reader’s RF field. The card’s biometric verification process then determines if the access control system will grant or deny entry. Importantly, this mechanism ensures that all biometric data is confined to the card itself, aligning with data and privacy regulations.
Commenting on the partnership, Lee Guill, Director of Schneider Electric’s Security Solutions Group, said, “Our primary objective is to mitigate risks for our clients. The Zwipe Access card, with its multifactor biometric authentication, aligns with this aim. The card’s design ensures it is only handled by the cardholder.”
Robert Puskaric, President and CEO of Zwipe, remarked on the collaboration, stating, “Zwipe Access offers an alternative to traditional access cards through biometric verification. We’re optimistic about this collaboration with Schneider Electric.”
Earlier this month, Zwipe also revealed a partnership with NCS, a company based in Houston. The focus of that collaboration is also for NCS to promote the Zwipe Access solution. This move is part of Zwipe’s strategy to broaden the reach of its card solution in various sectors, including payments, with the company having recently joined EMVCo’s partnership program.
