Norway-based fingerprint biometrics specialist Zwipe has announced two major new additions to its executive team. Orlando Martinez has signed on as the company’s new Chief Operating Officer, and John Laws is now Director of Sales Access Control EMEA.
Martinez comes to the company from a previous position as SVP of Business Development for Snarf Networks, an IT management company; but he has a strong background in biometrics. Martinez co-founded SecuriMetrics in 1999, a company that was later acquired by L-1 Identity Solutions and then merged with MorphoTrust. That was a 12-year saga, with Martinez then spending four years at CGI overseeing its digital security arm.
Laws, meanwhile, brings to Zwipe his 15 years of experience in sales with HID and Honeywell, and the unique skills and qualities developed in his time as soldier with the British Army.
Together with the appointment of former FPC CEO Jörgen Lantto to Zwipe’s Board of Directors and its establishment of a joint venture with Kuang-Chi Group, these additions point to lofty ambitions for the company for 2017. As CEO Kim Humborstad explained in a statement, the team is “entering a very important time… moving towards larger scale product roll out”.
