“The partnership will focus on biometric payment cards, and entails the licensing of Zwipe intellectual property, the integration of Zwipe components, and the use of Zwipe’s cardholder enrollment technology.”
China-based card integrator Goldpac has added another Scandinavian biometrics specialist to its roster of partners, with Zwipe announcing that it has established a new collaborative agreement with the firm.
The partnership will focus on biometric payment cards, and entails the licensing of Zwipe intellectual property, the integration of Zwipe components, and the use of Zwipe’s cardholder enrollment technology. It also entailed the launch of “biometric payment card pilots with various issuers before the end of 2019,” according to a statement announcing the agreement.
It’s an interesting move for Goldpac, which teamed up with another fingerprint sensor specialist, IDEX Biometrics, on a biometric payment cards collaboration earlier this year. The company evidently sees potential in both of the biometrics specialists, which have each been angling for position among other solutions providers ahead of the emerging biometric payment cards market.
“Biometric cards enable our card issuance customers to in turn provide their end users with cards that are secure and convenient to use, such as for payments or for identification, and we are excited to work with Zwipe to qualify and then introduce their biometric technology to our customer base, in the process providing a winning solution to our customers,” commented Goldpac Group SVP Oliver Hui.
