Zwipe has a new CEO. The company has announced that André Løvestam has taken the helm as of March 1st, with previous CEO — and Zwipe founder — Kim Humborstad taking a new role as the company’s Chief Growth Officer.
In announcing the change, Zwipe highlighted Løvestam’s previous leadership roles with Nordic ICT companies including Atea, Orkla, TeleComputing, and Tomra, adding that he joins Zwipe after a stint as Head of Asia Pacific for media tech firm The Future Group. Commenting further, Zwipe Board of Directors Chairman Clas Thelin asserted that Løvestam’s “experience and expertise are well suited to the strategic goals of Zwipe, including operational scale-up, increased international sales and corporate financing activities.”
The change arrives ahead of an anticipated boom in the emerging biometric payment cards market, with Zwipe technology being used in a Visa-led pilot project with Gemalto and the Bank of Cyprus. Meanwhile, two other biometric specialists active in this area, IDEX and Precise Biometrics, also announced new CEOs this year.
For his part, Zwipe’s Humborstad explained in a statement that as the company’s Chief Growth Officer, he will “sharpen focus on market adoption and top-line growth,” while helping Løvestam “in building the operational machinery and ensuring the financing required to implement Zwipe’s ambitious growth strategy.”
