Zwipe has reaffirmed its biometric card partnership with Wisecard Technology. Wisecard is best known as a card personalization specialist, and first partnered with Zwipe in 2020 in anticipation of the mass adoption of biometric payment cards.
The two companies are doubling down now that biometric cards are starting to reach that commercialization phase. Wisecard and Zwipe will work together to create pre-built scripts that allow card manufacturers and issuers to create custom biometric payment cards with the Zwipe Pay payments platform. They will also work together to market those scripts to Wisecard clients all over the world. Wisecard is primarily active in the Asia Pacific region, though it ultimately provides card personalization services for more than 150 financial institutions and another 50 card personalization firms in upwards of 60 different countries.
According to Zwipe, the joint solution will speed up card development times, and allow Wisecard’s clients to bring new cards to market more quickly.
“Partnering with Zwipe enables us to offer revolutionary solutions to our customers,” said Wisecard Business Development VP Kevin Yi. “Wisecard recognizes the significant benefits that biometric payment cards bring to consumers and issuers alike. With Zwipe Pay we now have the maturity and reliability to make it a reality.”
“Partnering with Wisecard greatly strengthens the global delivery and implementation ecosystem of biometric payment cards built on our platform,” added Zwipe APAC Sales and Business Development VP Claus Hansen. “Together we will bring next generation cards to card personalization bureaus, smart card manufacturers, payment processors and issuers.”
Zwipe has been steadily ramping up its distribution strategy in the past few months. The company’s Zwipe Pay solution now has official Visa certification, which is further reducing the time to market for Zwipe’s client network. The Central Bank of Iraq has also endorsed Zwipe Pay in a move that is expected to raise Zwipe’s profile in the Middle East.
