Zwipe has secured another distribution partner for its biometric payment card technology, announcing that it has teamed up with Network International Services Limited Jordan PSC (“NI”).
The partnership is expected to enhance Zwipe’s reach across the Levant, a historical geographical area encompassing parts of Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Palestine, Jordan, and Turkey. The announcement comes about a month after the news of Zwipe’s partnership with Middle East Payment Services, an issuer and acquirer of payment cards.
NI, meanwhile, is described in a statement announcing the new partnership as a provider of “payment products and services that are on the cutting-edge of technology development.”
Commenting on the development, NI Regional President Amjad Al-Sadeq noted that the COVID-19 pandemic has “accelerated a mega-shift” in the Levant toward more hygienic payment solutions – an important selling point for biometric cards, which enable highly secure contactless transactions.
“We are confident that our issuer clients and consumers will embrace biometric payment cards as they provide an excellent check-out experience with much higher security,” he said. “Zwipe Pay ONE cards will enrich our payment portfolio and further reinforce our innovation leadership.”
For Zwipe, the partnership is an important strategic win as the company continues to position itself for the large-scale adoption of biometric cards. Ramzi Saboury, who was named Zwipe’s General Manager for the Middle East and North Africa in April, called the Levant “a key growth market for Zwipe in the Middle East and Africa”, adding that NI is “the largest player in this vast region,” and one that has “strong relations with many prominent banks across the Middle East and Africa”.
