Beyond our ongoing coverage of the results of the annual FindBiometrics Year in Review, this week’s top stories included some major C-suite changes, alongside a bit of news about VC and new biometric tech.
First, though: the Year in Review. As for the aforementioned executive changes, they occurred at two of the biggest companies in the authentication space. One of those was HID Global, which has just brought on a new Chief Executive Officer:

Meanwhile, there were several executive changes at NEC Corporation, with the shakeup aimed at enhancing the company’s research and development efforts:

As for venture capital, this week brought the news that Persona, an identity verification startup aiming to provide an extra layer of security to the entire internet, has raised $17.5 million in Series A funding. The investment came in from firms including Coatue and First Round Capital:

Finally, a bit of hardware got a lot of attention this week. Samsung announced a new portable solid-state drive called the T7 Touch, and it features an integrated fingerprint sensor for added security:
