Xiaomi has introduced the Mijia Smart Safe Box 30cm, integrating fingerprint authentication technology from Precise Biometrics into its expanding smart home product line. This launch builds upon the companies’ successful collaboration that previously brought biometric security to Xiaomi’s smartphones and smart door locks.
The fingerprint authentication system in the new smart safe employs Precise Biometrics’ BioMatch Embedded algorithm technology, delivering 99.2 percent recognition accuracy with unlocking speeds below 0.5 seconds. This biometric capability complements the safe’s multiple access methods, representing a significant advancement in consumer-grade security storage solutions.
Precise Biometrics CEO Joakim Nydemark highlighted Xiaomi’s track record of innovation, stating that the Mijia Smart Safe Box maintains the high standards previously demonstrated in their smartphones and smart locks, delivering both security and user experience benefits. The partnership has already yielded several successful implementations, including the Xiaomi Mijia Smart Door Lock released last year.
Xiaomi Product Manager HanLin Yang emphasized how Precise Biometrics’ technology supports their security and user satisfaction goals, citing the high recognition accuracy and rapid unlocking speed as key performance metrics. “Precise Biometrics has proven to be a true value-adding supplier, delivering unique biometric technology,” he said.
The Mijia Smart Safe Box joins Xiaomi’s broader range of smart home products, which includes security cameras, smart locks, and various connected home appliances. This expansion reflects the growing integration of biometric authentication technologies in consumer security products, as manufacturers respond to increasing demand for more secure and convenient home security solutions.
