VSBLTY’s retail analytics technology will soon be appearing in a chain of pet stores in Mexico. The deployment will include digital shelf strips and interactive surfaces. It will also leverage VSBLTY’s computer vision solutions to provide the retailer with real-time information about the habits of its customers.
The deal itself was formed in collaboration with Retailigent Media, which acts as VSBLTY’s partner in Mexico. Retailigent is a smart retail specialist with offices throughout Latin America that strives to deliver more personalized shopping experiences.
According to Retailigent, the pet store chain will first install the new technology at 10 locations. However, the scope of the deployment will scale relatively quickly, and expand to 85 locations in the immediate future.
“This represents an interesting and exciting move into a new brand category for VSBLTY and Retailigent,” said VSBLTY Co-Founder and CEO Jay Hutton. “We are anxious to see if the sales lift experienced with other brands will be duplicated in the pet food category.”
Of course, this is not VSBLTY’s first major project in Mexico. The company has already moved beyond retail to provide facial recognition and crowd analytics technology for a massive smart city surveillance program in Mexico City. That program is being carried out in partnership with Energeticka, which deployed the first surveillance kits in November.
Since then, VSBLTY has renewed its focus on the international retail space through a partnership with UST Global. The company has also tried to meet the demand for health screening technology, which has gone up dramatically since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. To that end, VSBLTY has teamed up with Photon-X to create thermal scanners that will allow venue operators to monitor the temperatures of people who enter a building and identify those who might be infected with the coronavirus.
