VSBLTY continues to gain traction in the Latin American market. The company’s computer vision and data analytics technology will soon be installed in a camera network at La Aurora International Airport in Guatemala City, Guatemala.
The project is being carried out in collaboration with Branding Global, an advertising network operator based in Latin America. The cameras themselves will have security and commercial applications. They will be used to track audience engagement and gauge interest in airport signage, and to monitor the crowd to locate persons of interest.
The audience data will be anonymous, but will include details like gender, age, and emotion, as well as footfall and whether or not the visitor returned to look at the sign. However, the cameras will have facial recognition capabilities, so airport security will have the ability to identify someone on a watch list.
La Aurora Airport handles approximately 2.7 million passengers on an annual basis.
“The demographic analytics accurately measure the effectiveness of signage,” said VSBLTY CEO Jay Hutton. “An advertiser has a clear picture not only of the demographics of the audience that sees the messaging but the nature of their response to it. This adds extraordinary value to a brand.”
“Branding Global is working with partners to expand the number of deployments for malls, transit operators and governmental security,” added Branding Global CEO Douglas Ovalle. “People are drawn to digital displays and we are able to capture an accurate ‘head on’ look at those observing the display, which adds greater efficiency to the security technology program.”
The deployment will be VSBLTY’s first in Guatemala, though the company has previously provided smart retail tech for a chain of pet stores in Mexico. Before that, VSBLTY partnered with Energetika to launch a major smart city surveillance program in Mexico City. The first cameras were installed in the latter half of 2019.
