VPR Brands has unveiled its own temperature detection and facial recognition offering. The new VPR Verified product is being pitched as an Infrared Body Temperature Screening Device, which was designed to promote public health in high-traffic venues like airports and factories.
VPR Verified is comparable to the many similar solutions that have cropped up in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Fever is a common symptom of the disease, and venues can slow the spread of the virus if they deny entry to people who may be infected. VPR Verified will provide establishments with the technology they need to deliver that level of access control. The kiosk is available as a wall-mounted device, or as a standalone table or floor stand.
All three models can be linked to a door, a turnstile, or some other security checkpoint. VPR Verified will scan someone’s temperature when they try to enter the building, and will automatically unlock the door and grant access once it determines that the individual does not have an elevated temperature. The facial recognition and temperature scans are initiated with a motion sensor, and can be completed in less than a second.
“As the country gets back to business, employee and customer safety will be the most important measure in how we interact. This device provides automation in enforcing key safety measures,” said VPR Brands COO Dan Hoff. “It also has robust functionality, alerts, and data tracking as added features.”
VPR argues that Verified is ideal for commercial establishments like restaurants and gyms, as well as offices and residential buildings. The solution reflects the growing interest in contactless authentication and security options, which has led to a dramatic spike in the number of thermal scanners currently on the market. Hytera and Verifyii have also released their own thermal detection terminals in the past few weeks.
