Today, Opus Research announced that MasterCard and Barclays will both present keynote presentations at the upcoming Voice Biometric Conference (VBC) in London this November.
VBC, which takes place from November 18 through 19 in London, England, is the thirteenth Voice Biometrics Conference held by Opus Research, an analyst firm specializing in what it calls “conversational technologies”. Opus has been covering voice biometrics since 2002.
According to Opus Research’s announcement, Anne Grim will be presenting on behalf of Barclays. Grim, managing director of global client experience from Barclays, will present a case study on supporting strong authentication through multiple channels. Recently, Barclays completed a pilot of voice biometric technology with its corporate clients. The experiment was so successful that the technology is being rolled out to all of its customers.
MasterCard’s Paul Trueman, the company’s group head of enterprise security solutions, will be talking about promoting trusted communications and inclusive commerce on a global scale. Biometrics has been singled out by MasterCard as a key component in its financial inclusion initiative which aims to serve the massive unbanked population of the world.
Opus Research founder and conference chair Dan Miller points out that biometric tech is now embedded in not just mobile devices, but customer care infrastructure all around the world.
This year, with Barclays and MasterCard presenting their respective keynotes, it’s clear that voice biometrics is experiencing something of a boom in popularity. Recently, thanks to mainstream media coverage of voiceprint database proliferation, the invisible authentication technology has entered the forefront of discussions regarding fraud protection, security and privacy.
Miller goes on to say that this year’s VBC will provide the venue for knowledgeable individuals to share perspectives. Representatives from Nuance, VoiceTrust, Verint, ValidSoft, NICE Systems, AGNITiO and SpeechPro, RSA, Equifax, Nok Nok Labs and iovation will all also be speaking at the event.
