Vision-Box has announced the next step in its pioneering airport screening automation technology: Seamless Gateway, a system offering passive biometric identification of passengers. The system was announced at this week’s Passenger Terminal Expo in Amsterdam and in partnership with the Netherlands’ Schiphol airport.
Vison-Box and Schiphol first announced that they were working together on a biometric passenger screening system early last month, but at the time it wasn’t clear that the system would be substantially different from other Vision-Box deployments using biometric eGates to help automate and streamline the passenger screening process. But the new system takes things a step further, using cameras to scan passengers’ faces without any need for those passengers to stop for verification, and automatically prompting alternative verification methods when necessary.
The system works in collaboration with Vision-Box’s overarching Orchestra platform, assessing passenger behavior throughout the airport journey in order to offer a high level of analytical intelligence to airport authorities.
Vision-Box has also taken the opportunity of Passenger Terminal Expo to announce Vision-Box Mobile ID, a mobile app designed to store identity documents and authenticate the user for connected IoT devices based on a blockchain approach that determines a risk score based on past interactions.
