Vision-Box has extended its partnership with the Australian Department of Home Affairs (DHA), reaching an agreement that will allow the SmartGate Departure Program to continue through 2026. The two organizations first began working together in 2015, when Vision-Box provided DHA with biometric SmartGates to improve the flow of traffic through Australia’s airports.
The scope of the program would later expand to include contactless arrival gates as Australia moved towards a nationwide biometric screening program, which it hoped to achieve by 2020. The latest news would seem to suggest that both parties are happy with the results so far.
The renewed partnership will focus on support and maintenance, as Vision-Box and Home Affairs work to make Australia’s border control procedures more efficient. Doing so will allow the country to process a much higher volume of travelers, which will be crucial as the Australian government anticipates seven percent annual growth in airport traffic.
“As air traffic in Australia continues to intensify, Vision-Box is proud to
enhance its support to Home Affairs to facilitate travel at the border and
beyond,” said Vision-Box’s APAC Managing Director Mark Hilton.
Vision-Box is the provider of the Advanced Border Control program, and has partnered with airlines and airports all over the world. The company recently deployed biometric e-gates for Norwegian Air at LAX, and at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, India.
