Vision-Box is providing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for firefighters, law enforcement officers, and other emergency personnel in its home city of Oeiras, Portugal. The equipment will be distributed by the city to support those who are working to combat COVID-19.
“Vision-Box is determined to contribute in the fight against this global threat and to guarantee the best possible conditions for our public safety professionals,” said Vision-Box Founder and CEO Miguel Leitmann. “It is a way of giving back to the community and recognizing the intense daily work of our emergency personnel that has now lasted for almost two months.”
The first shipment of face visors was delivered free of charge on April 24. The visors themselves were manufactured using 3D printers in Vision-Box’s Research and Development department, and will cover any equipment gaps identified by Oeiras city officials. Vision-Box indicated that the initiative is in keeping with its Social Responsibility policy.
Of course, Vision-Box is best known for providing biometric passenger screening solutions for the aviation industry, which has experienced severe disruptions due to the travel restrictions that have been implemented during the pandemic. However, the company is continuing to invest in new technology, and argued that contactless solutions should appeal to airports looking for more sanitary identification options when traffic picks up in the future.
Vision-Box opened a new manufacturing facility in Abóboda, Portugal, in November.
