Vision-Box‘s founders have won the Portuguese edition of the EY Entrepreneur of the Year award. CEO Miguel Leitmann and Chairman Bento Correia are now eligible to proceed to the EY (formerly Ernst & Young) finals in Monaco this June.
The award was bestowed in recognition of the success of Vision-Box, which pioneered the concept of the automated border control (ABC) eGate based on facial recognition. Since 2001, the company says it has seen about 1200 deployments of its technology across five continents and 150 countries, with about 100 million users now benefiting from the solutions annually.
In recent months the company has been recognized for its Aruba Happy Flow deployment and its technology has been used to improve the airport screening process elsewhere as well. Furthermore, its new Orchestra solution, which essentially amalgamates its technologies into a comprehensive platform, was unveiled at the Passenger Terminal Expo last month.
Commenting on the EY award in a statement, Leitmann and Correia emphasized their company’s commitment to making a positive impact in the world, suggesting that this has been a major driver of their success. “It’s all about creating new, brilliant things that improve processes necessary to everyone, every day in every corner of the world,” Leitmann said.
