Vision-Box is partnering with Airside Mobile to enable mobile screening in the travel industry. The joint solution will pair Vision-Box’s Orchestra digital identity platform with Airside’s mobile app to allow passengers to move through travel checkpoints using only their mobile device.
To do so, customers will first need to register for an Airside account. From there, they will be able to use the Digital Identity and Health Passport app to store their travel credentials on their phone. Airside accounts are secured with biometric authentication, and can store COVID-19 test results in addition to more conventional documents like passports and driver’s licenses.
The traveler can then present those documents at security checkpoints when they travel. The app gives customers more control over their personal information, allowing them to choose exactly when and where they share their credentials. It also reduces costs and liability for travel companies, since information is stored with its owner, and not on a separate database. In that regard, the solution is compliant with the latest data privacy regulations.
The collaboration will kick off in the US before expanding to other parts of the world. Vision-Box is hoping that it will support a contactless travel experience in the wake of the pandemic.
“Airside is a very important ally for the company in expanding personalized experiences on the Orchestra platform,” said Vision-Box Strategic Sales and Global Partnerships VP Jeff Lennon. “With this partnership we will be able to deliver privacy-by-design solutions to our clients across the world, starting with the USA.”
“The traveler is at the center of the journey, breezing through online and in-person check points without any long lines or crowding,” added Airside CRO Jessica Patel. “Our private and secure technologies fit together naturally, providing peace-of-mind for travelers and the industry at a critical time.”
The Airside app is comparable to the VeriFLY app from Daon, which allows travelers to share COVID-19 test results. SITA has also partnered with NEC to develop its own mobile screening solution for the travel industry.
Vision-Box, meanwhile, has provided Orchestra identity management technology for Emirates and AirAsia in the past few months.
