Vision-Box, in partnership with Indonesia’s Directorate General of Immigration and Sinergi Teknoglobal Perkasa, has now deployed over 150 biometric touchpoints at Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport.
The initiative began in 2023 with the installation of 78 Automated Border Control (ABC) Seamless Gates at Jakarta’s airport, including e-gates for passengers with reduced mobility. The program has since expanded to Bali with the addition of 90 more ABC Seamless Gates.
The biometric system has significantly improved passenger processing times. More than six million international and domestic travelers have used the e-gates to scan their passports and complete biometric verification within seconds. The new process has reportedly reduced processing times from three to five minutes at traditional counters to just 20 to 25 seconds per passenger.
Founded in 2001 as a spin-off from a state research institute in Germany and Portugal, Vision-Box has grown significantly over the years, now claiming more than 30 percent of the market share in its field. The company was acquired in early 2024 by Amadeus, in a deal valued at about €320 million.
