Cloud communications platform company Parateum has announced a partnership with global messaging app Viber to provide API-driven multi-factor authentication to secure the end user experience with its Parateum Experience Cloud platform.
Viber is a subsidiary of Tokyo-based Rakuten, a digital services brand, and with over one billion users, it’s one of the most popular messaging apps in the world. Viber offers text, voice and video communications for its users across mobile (Android and iOS) and desktop (Windows, Mac and Linux) platforms.
“Nothing is more important to us than protecting our users,” said Cristina Constandache, Chief Revenue Officer at Viber. “Trust and end-to-end security are the core of our brand and service. As such, we work only with providers that meet our stringent requirements. We are pleased to welcome Pareteum as a new security partner and look forward to a successful partnership,” she added.
With the Pareteum Experience Cloud platform, Viber users will now have an extra layer of authentication during account activation and throughout the life of their account. The multi-factor authentication features are supported by application to person (A2P) messaging, voice biometrics, and device location data.
“Security is a cornerstone of the communications experience and end users expect their digital services providers to deliver robust and unbroken protection of their data, privacy and application activity,” said Lars Korbel, Pareteum’s VP of Messaging. “I am delighted that our API-driven multi-factor authentication solution has been selected to provide this invaluable component of the Viber experience and I look forward to deepening our relationship with Viber.”
