Veridos and Austrian partner OeSD have received recognition from HSP Europe for excellence in electronic passport implementation. The award acknowledges the two companies’ work in delivering ePassport programs that meet the technical and interoperability standards expected of modern travel identity documents.
Electronic passport implementation involves a demanding set of requirements: ICAO-aligned chip architecture, anti-fraud physical security features, personalization quality, and integration with the public key directory infrastructure that enables border control systems in other countries to authenticate the document. Recognition in this category signals delivery maturity across that full technical stack.
Veridos has been active across multiple national ePassport programs. Nepal’s issuance of e-passport contract letters to Veridos and Muhlbauer in June 2025 — a contract awarded against a legal challenge from a competitor — highlighted the company’s standing in competitive international passport procurements. That program, involving a country rolling out a new generation of travel documents, exemplifies the implementation work the HSP Europe recognition is tied to.
The award arrives at a moment of organizational transition for Veridos. Veridos named Bernd Kummerle as CEO in April 2025 following a leadership change, and the company has continued to pursue new program wins and product developments under that new leadership. Industry recognition for implementation quality reinforces the company’s positioning as it competes for government identity contracts globally.
Veridos has also been broadening its product portfolio beyond document production. Veridos and Credence ID’s launch of an all-in-one solution for digital and physical ID verification in 2024 illustrated the company’s expansion toward verification-side capabilities that complement its core document production business.
OeSD (Osterreichische Staatsdruckerei) is one of Europe’s established secure document printers, with a history in producing official documents for government clients across the region. The joint recognition with Veridos reflects the collaborative supply chain model common in ePassport delivery, where document design, personalization technology, and printing capabilities are often provided through partnerships rather than by single vendors.
The HSP Europe recognition covers the implementation track, with the ICAO Public Key Directory providing the standards architecture against which passport interoperability is ultimately measured.
