Veridas has joined the Open Identity Exchange (OIX), signaling its intent to play a larger role in the evolving digital identity space.
The OIX (Open Identity Exchange) is a non-profit entity dedicated to expediting the integration of digital identity services that adhere to open standards. As a cooperative membership organization spanning various sectors, its objective is to foster a global environment where individuals can easily verify their identity and qualifications universally, relying on a universally accepted and trusted ID solution.
Established in January 2010, the inception of the Open Identity Exchange was a collaborative effort between the OpenID Foundation (OIDF) and the Information Card Foundation (ICF), backed by grants from both entities. The pioneering lineup of OIX founding members featured prominent names like Booz Allen Hamilton, CA Technologies, Equifax, Google, PayPal, Verisign, and Verizon.
Veridas, meanwhile, is known for its voice and face biometrics technologies, with the latter having attained a fourth-place global ranking in one-to-many matching in testing by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) earlier this year. Based in Spain, Veridas opened additional offices in Mexico City and San Francisco last year.
“OIX brings together key stakeholders to collaborate and solve common challenges in the identity space,” said Veridas CEO Eduardo Azanza. “This is a powerful space where we will form strategic alliances, as well as share our knowledge, best practices, and insights with other OIX community members.”
The news comes just ahead of OIX’s Identity Trust 2023 conference, which will take place on September 28th in the South Bank wing of London’s County Hall.
