Veridas Facial Recognition Reaches Top Four in NIST Testing

Veridas is celebrating its best result yet in facial recognition testing by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), with its technology attaining the fourth-place ranking in one-to-many matching.

Tested against a database of 12 million images, Veridas’s solution delivered a false native identification rate of 0.0232 and a false positive identification rate of 0.001. As the company explains, this means that when looking for an individual match across a database of 12 million, its first match will be correct 97.68 percent of the time.

The company also notes that its voice recognition technology has the second-place ranking in NIST testing, and that its combined face and voice identification holds the top spot when those modalities are evaluated together. Its facial recognition technology has also attained both Level 1 and Level 2 compliance in iBeta’s presentation attack detection evaluation, considered a high standard for testing liveness detection and anti-spoofing solutions.
