Upgraded f2 Image Computer Vision System Can ‘Find Any Object’

Vancouver-based Face Forensics has upgraded its computer vision capabilities, and is making some remarkable claims about its efficacy.

In a statement announcing the upgrade, Face Forensics said that its system is now capable of “finding any object in an existing database containing images, regardless of format, size, and even if only partially visible.” The company said that the system can match “anything solid with distinguishing features,” such as vehicles, jewelry, flags, and logos.

With facial recognition at its core, Face Forensics’ “f2” platform offers a number of specialized capabilities, including a dead body identification module called “Corpse-ID” and an “f2 Tattoo Module” that is designed to match an unknown tattoo against a database. Now, the upgraded “f2 Image Recognition Suite” is poised to play a more prominent role in the f2 portfolio.

The Suite is available as a standalone or networked app, as a Software Development Kit, and as a web-based service. Face Forensics says it can be easily connected to existing “industry-standard” databases, and emphasized its forensic uses when combined with Face Forensics’ tattoo and facial recognition algorithms.

Whereas Face Forensics had added an access control solution to its portfolio in 2016, the company’s focus has generally been on the law enforcement and government sectors. Face Forensics is now offering a free evaluation of its solution to interested government agencies and to their suppliers.
