Updated GenKey ABIS Can Detect Duplicate Fingerprints More Quickly

GenKey has updated its Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS), the company has announced.

The update revolves around speed, particularly with respect to its Label Independent Matching (LIM) — the system’s capability to detect duplicate fingerprints, even when they have been recorded and labeled as separate biometric entities. Explaining the enhancement in a statement, GenKey CTO Gavan Duffy suggested that whereas the “control algorithm overheads” were previously constraining the LIM feature so that it was “like racing a Porsche in second gear”, the new “razor thin” overheads free the system to run LIM faster.

Duffy called the enhancement “an important industry first” and suggested it’s “a great example of how a software innovation can solve a hardware problem.”

GenKey’s ABIS 3.1 is available now, and designed to support large-scale identity projects and programs.
