University of Denver Adopts PortalGuard IAM Solution

BIO-key has picked up another PortalGuard customer in the academic sector. The company has announced that it will be providing identity services for the University of Denver in Colorado.

The University of Denver is a private research university with a student population of roughly 12,000 people at the graduate and undergraduate levels. PortalGuard will make it easier for all those students to gain access to the school’s web portal, and to log into other applications and campus resources. In that regard, PortalGuard offers secure Single Sign-on (SSO) capabilities that allow students to gain access to multiple apps from a centralized location.

According to BIO-key, that SSO utility will help support the University’s eventual campus portal migration and deliver a more consistent academic experience for students. The University, meanwhile, indicated that it chose PortalGuard because it is flexible, scalable, and easier to use than other cybersecurity platforms currently on the market.

“We are proud to add the University of Denver, the oldest private research university in the Rocky Mountain Region, to our customer community,” said BIO-key PortalGuard President Mark Cochran. “Our education customers require flexible and cost-effective enterprise-grade access security for critical operations and remote access, as well as to address cybersecurity insurance compliance requirements.”

PortalGuard provides users with multiple authentication options, including several biometric authentication options following the release of the new PalmPositive palm authentication feature in May. BIO-key has also unveiled a new SSO Concierge solution to improve organizational security when using thick client applications.

In the meantime, PortalGuard has proven to be extremely popular with academic institutions. BIO-key has now delivered the solution to schools all over the country, with California’s Rio Hondo College and Mendocino Community College and Illinois’ Southeastern Illinois College standing as some of the more recent additions to the list. The Orange County Elections Office in Florida has also supplemented its BIO-key fingerprint scanners with PortalGuard access management for election workers.
