Unisys and Inspire Health Alliance have expanded their partnership with the release of a new COVID-19 health passport. The U-Pass solution gives organizations a way to verify someone’s health status, and allows them to take that into account in their access control procedures.
In that regard, Inspire provides customers with a number of different testing options, including PCR tests and rapid antigen and antibody tests. U-Pass will then link the results of those tests to an individual’s biometrics using the Unisys Stealth(identity) platform. From there, organizations can configure their access control system to require both a negative COVID-19 test and valid proof of identity before letting someone enter a facility.
U-Pass ensures that each COVID-19 credential does in fact belong to the person that took the test, preventing people from forging test results or trying to use someone else’s record. Organizations can manage privileges with the Stealth(identity) software, and automate on-site access procedures through the use of health checkpoint kiosks at building entrances. The solution is designed to facilitate the safe return to public spaces in the wake of the pandemic.
“As we work to bring workers and students back into buildings, the ability to integrate testing, diagnostics and monitoring – in a way that is compliant with local health regulations – is essential to succeed,” said Inspire Managing Partner Ricardo Salas.
“We are focused on maintaining the highest standards and compliance with regulatory agencies in order to ensure every business, facility or school receives the care critical for reducing infectiousness in any environment,” added Unisys President and COO Eric Hutto.
U-Pass builds on the existing relationship between Unisys and Inspire. The two companies first joined forces in August, when Inspire integrated Stealth to support access control applications.
Aware recently argued that biometric immunity passports will be essential for building trust as people start to return to public spaces. U-Pass is one of several immunity solutions currently on the market, joining offerings like CLEAR’s Health Pass and VeriFly from Daon.
