Uniphore will be looking to strengthen its video offerings after bringing in an astonishing $140 million in Series D funding. In that regard, the news builds on Uniphore’s recent acquisition of Emotion Research Lab, which was completed in January.
Uniphore is best known for its broad array of voice offerings. Its current portfolio includes conversational AI assistants and voice authentication technology, in addition to speech analytic and transcription tech that allows customers to turn voice recordings into actionable data.
Emotion Research Lab, on the other hand, used eye-tracking and emotion detection to gauge people’s level of engagement (and their reactions) while consuming video content. Uniphore is planning to add to that foundation with its new Series D funds, in an effort to develop more comprehensive video applications for enterprise-level customers. In doing so, the company is hoping to meet the rising demand for video solutions in a remote work environment.
Uniphore will also invest some of the money in security and automation tech. On that front, the company has obtained a robotic process automation license with NTT Data.
Uniphore is based in India, though it opened US headquarters in Palo Alto back in 2019. The company has raised $81 million in prior rounds of funding, with a roster of backers that includes BNP Paribas. The latest round was led by Sorenson Capital Partners, with additional contributions from Cisco Investments, amongst several others.
