Unico Names Cassio Vaquero to Lead Global Partnerships, With US Focus

Unico has appointed Cassio Vaquero as Strategic Alliances Director to build out its global partner network, with a primary emphasis on the United States. Based in the company’s Menlo Park, California office, Vaquero will lead an effort to scale Unico’s business through partners in international markets as it pushes beyond its home region.

Vaquero brings 25 years in sales channels and international business development, having worked across Asia, Latin America, and the United States. Unico says that background suits a role focused on adapting its global strategy to local market demands as it courts partners abroad.

The company is leaning on the scale of its existing operation to make the pitch. Unico says its platform handles live identification of individuals and detection of fraudulent behavior, processing more than one billion authentications a year across financial services, retail, and digital platforms, using proprietary biometrics and machine learning. Through what it calls the Unico Partnership Program, it is offering resellers enablement and co-marketing support in exchange for integrating its verification capabilities.

“Our objective is to build a scalable partner model that allows us to expand our presence in key segments,” Vaquero said, describing the program as a way for security and business-process partners to add Unico’s identification tools and open new revenue. The company frames the hire as part of an international go-to-market strategy aimed at a digital identity market it projects will reach $50.6 billion by 2034.

The appointment follows a stretch of international growth for the company, which recently reported 84 percent transaction growth as its international revenue climbed, part of a wider expansion of Latin American identity-verification firms, as seen when Colombia-based Truora raised $15 million for its onboarding platform.
