Unico reported an 84 percent year-over-year increase in identity verification transaction volume in the first quarter of 2026, pointing to rising demand for fraud prevention tools as AI-generated attacks become more common. The Brazil-based company also said international revenue rose 130 percent over the same period, reinforcing its push to turn a Latin American identity verification business into a broader global identity network.
The company’s expansion outside Brazil was led by Mexico, where transaction volume tripled and rose 204 percent compared with the fourth quarter of 2025. Unico said consolidated revenue increased 34 percent year over year in the quarter, while the company maintained full-year growth guidance of 30 percent to 40 percent.
“These results are part of our journey to become a global trust infrastructure, protecting people and institutions worldwide,” said Luis Felipe Monteiro, Unico’s CEO for Latin America. “The accelerated growth, both in Brazil and internationally, validates our belief that our technology solves the complex challenge of identifying humans and preventing synthetic fraud at scale.”
Monteiro was named CEO for Latin America earlier this year, with responsibility for Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina. Unico has also opened a Silicon Valley headquarters as part of its effort to compete for enterprise identity verification customers outside its home region.
The growth figures follow several acquisitions intended to broaden Unico’s technical stack. The company acquired Trully, a Mexico-based identity verification firm, and Oz Forensics, a liveness detection and anti-spoofing specialist, in 2024. It acquired OwnID’s passkey business in 2025, adding passwordless authentication capabilities.
Unico said its 2026 plan will rely on international growth and new product launches, including an age verification solution in Brazil. Backed by SoftBank, General Atlantic, and Goldman Sachs, the company operates in more than 20 countries and is evaluating expansion in Argentina. Its identity verification, liveness detection, and anti-fraud tools are aimed at banks, digital platforms, and other enterprises facing synthetic identity and deepfake-enabled fraud.
“Trust is our main product, and these results show that the market recognizes its value,” Monteiro said.
